Vivante
The motto of Caroline, founder of SCARO, perfectly reflects where the brand is today after 20 years of existence:
“I don’t seek perfection. I seek emotion.”
The time for silencing what sleeps within us is over. It’s time to live and honour life.
Amoureuse
Caroline, the jeweller behind SCARO, is a lover. Of life, nature, her daughter, her friends, her surroundings, creation. Life deserves to be celebrated, it deserves for us to take time without ever losing it, like a precious object that we protect. To have this romantic vision of the world, where everything happens for a reason, for the best, because we must go down this path to grow and become the person we’re destined to be.
“Love gives life meaning. When we love, we’re stronger! We’re taller! We go farther!”
Joël Dicker
Bouclier
The Bouclier beetle, with its stingray leather, represents our armour, our ability to protect ourselves, without denying all the love and gentleness that hide beneath our shell. Stingray leather comes from a type of stingray found in Thailand, halfway between leather and mineral. It has a smooth appearance that reveals small rows of sparkling pearls. With a grade of 4 on the Mohs scale, it is by far the world’s hardest leather (at least 20 times harder than traditional cowhide).
“You have to toughen up, without ever letting go of your tenderness.”
Ernesto Che Guevara
Carapace
A ring inspired by brass knuckles. The Carapace three-finger ring represents the fighting, resolute and daring sides of the beetle. We’re all armed to face life in our own way. If you look closely at the silhouette’s profile, you can easily imagine a stylish motorcycle, ready to speed toward the obstacle in front of you and face it head-on.
“Faced with a challenge, man has only three choices: 1) fight; 2) do nothing; 3) flee.”
Henri Laborit
Créateur
The honeycomb is undoubtedly one of the most powerful symbols.
As a major esoteric symbol, the hexagon corresponds to the Seal ofSolomon. Composed of two interlocking triangles, it symbolizes the union of two principles; the meeting of spirit and matter, active and passive, high and low, or in alchemy, the union of Sun and Moon, Fire and Water.
For the jeweller, the honeycomb or hexagon represents the product of hard work, performed with devotion, day after day, to pay tribute to life. It’s a symbol of purity, unity, collective spirit and patience.
“The best way to predict the future is to create it.”
Peter Drucker
Khépri
The god Khepri is an entity in Egyptian mythology associated with the sun. He is represented by a man with the head of a beetle pushing the solar disk before him. Khepri, whose name means “he who comes into existence,” symbolizes the blossoming of inner strength for the jeweller.
“Everything is change, not to cease existing, but to become that which does not yet exist.”
Epictète
Les clés
“And then one day you realize you’re free, that you hold the key to this prison you created for yourself. That you’re not living your life in truth, but in the image of it you made for yourself.
So you open this cage, and you understand that you hold the key to the person you really want to be.”
Caroline Arbour
Apart from its esthetic appeal, the key is synonymous with freedom, power, knowledge, privacy and security.
In popular tradition, the key is above all a sign of prosperity and security.
“The door to change can only come from within. Each person holds the key.”
Josette Sauthier
Source
Water is the source of life. This jewel, shaped like a water droplet with a golden beetle at the centre, represents life. The 18-carat gold beetle symbolizes water’s precious role on Earth. The source of life flows within each of us, and it’s our duty to take care of it.
“Life can only be understood by going back to its original source.
That source is forever sweet and endless.”
Swami Ramdas
Talisman
It’s no accident this jewel is called Talisman.
The bee acts as the beetle’s shell, with citrine at its heart. This semi-precious stone helps balance energies and develop a strong sense of creativity and self-confidence.
Citrine also represents the colour of honey, the product of the bee, the true creator of life.
The merging of beetle and bee in this way symbolizes a great power that endows the Talisman jewel with magical or protective power.
“The mightiest art in life is turning pain into a healing talisman.”
Frida Kahlo
Tattoo
For her 20th anniversary, the jeweler boldly places the beetle at the centre of this ring, like an ancient seal dipped in hot wax to seal a contract. Stamped with multiple small punches, this ring evokes the wear and tear of time, without compromising its solidity or beauty.
“Space changes, the universe expands, and the only thing that doesn’t happen is what never stops happening: time.”
Jean d’Ormesson
Totem
The little Totem beetle represents the power hiding within us, like a semi-precious gem emerging from the earth. Becoming one with our instinct and subconscious. Featuring a stone from Quebec as its shell, either gaspéite, amazonite or scapolite, the Totem beetle blends the symbolism of the beetle, protector and lucky charm, with the symbolic power of the stones.
“Instinct is the intellect of the subconscious.”
Najib Ben Seffaj
